Company For Which I Finally Scored An Internship

Really, Entertainment Industry Workplace At Which I’ve Been A Non-Paid Intern For The Better Part Of This Year?

It was great of you to sympathize with and encourage me, earnestly and perhaps even enthusiastically, when I lamented my inability to find gainful employment in this city, in this field. I’ve made no secret of my career-search woes as a fella over five years out of college, in a coastal city where I’ve lived for just under a year–which I realize makes me about as unique as an advertisement for Ludo’s new album, sure. I’ve also made no secret that I’d settle for part-time work, grunt-work, really anything that any such business as yourself would hand me for a bit of pay, just for a “foot in the door”-type position. Yes, I said, and furthermore meant, anything.

However, it seems like not only a rotten business practice, but rotten human nature, to let me come in one day to find that the recent part-time opening at this place has gone to a significantly less-experienced college student in significantly less dire straits (speaking specifically from a financial standpoint, but assuming others as well) than yours truly. I don’t act entitled as much as I feel entitled, and I scarcely feel entitled to anything, but there exists a line of propriety, and rest assured, you’ve crossed it.

It’s a relatively safe bet that any “exit interview” paperwork I am expected to fill out when this internship ends in a matter of weeks will indeed contain, or perhaps be comprised solely, of “Really?”
