Really, people who say things like “Winning is Contagious”?
So there I am, nodding off at a conference, when a particularly irritating marketing guru lets me in on this little gem: “We believe that winning is contagious”.
Okay. What?
I’m calling you out – defend yourself. Give me any scenario where that statement makes sense. Meanwhile, I’ll use the rest of them against you. Let’s do some spot-checks:
- High School Wrestling – Is winning contagious here? Not as often as Staph Infection.
- TV and Movies – What do you say, Baldwin Bros? No? Moving on.
- Business world – Did your boss just sneeze managerial privileges all over you? Probably not.
Three strikes for the Marketing VP over at Windbag & Associates. Not even in the context he intended, where one especially aggressive team member would somehow inspire the rest of his team to win as well/instead of/however that was supposed to happen, does that make any sense at all. I don’t care if you subject your own team to “brilliant” marketing concepts that don’t mean anything but no one’s paying me enough to listen to it.
So spin me a globally marketable deliverable for this action issue, sport: really?
